Description

Creating in Community: Fowler at 60 celebrates the sixtieth anniversary of the Fowler Museum at UCLA. As we look back at the research, exhibitions, and public programs of the past sixty years, we recognize that the most joyful and interesting projects have been those created with others. Through these collaborations fresh ideas bloomed, unforeseen challenges and expectations arose, and new connections were forged. Come revisit these extraordinary projects with us, as we bring this spirit of engagement into the future by working with partners to use our building and collections in ever more experimental ways.

Description
Tatyana Fazlalizadeh is a Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist whose practice considers Black image making as a site of protest, contestation, affirmation, and possibility. At CAAM, Fazlalizadeh will present a series of portraits of Black Angelenos wheat-pasted across the atrium’s monumental walls. Based on photographs and conversations that took place this spring while the artist was living in Los Angeles, the portraits ask how safety is inferred, built, and felt for the city’s Black residents.

Description
Join us for our monthly meeting where we will discuss all things zine, have a co-working space for zine projects, discover new zine making techniques, make zines together in workshops, and cultivate a supportive zine community. Please feel free to bring a zine project you’re working on, and/or any zine making supplies you would like to use. We will provide basic zine making supplies (paper, writing and drawing tools, scissors, bone folders) and ideas so no need to worry if you don’t have your own! $10 Donation upon entry is greatly appreciated, however no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Donations go to keeping programming like this and our after school youth arts programs at CFAER accessible!
