Description
In an act of remarkable conjuring, Jamie Foxx gives the performance of a lifetime as the foundational, widely influential musician Ray Charles, the revered R&B pianist, and singer who lost his sight at the age of 7. This sweeping biopic, which was independently financed, had the support and endorsement of Charles, who was able to review a first cut of the picture before he passed in June 2004, just four months before the film was released. Foxx’s nominations for Best Actor in Ray (which he won) and Best Supporting Actor for Collateral made him the first Black actor to receive two acting nods in the same year.
