Holiday Celebrations

The annual boat parade has celebrated 61 years of festive light displays, delighting Los Angeles and its visitors. Head to the LA Waterfront for the Los Angeles Harbor Holiday Afloat Parade in the Port of Los Angeles Main Channel. L.A. Harbor Holiday Boat Parade Viewing Spots   Starts at East Basin near Banning’s Landing Community Center in Wilmington and takes approximately 90 minutes to cover the entire parade route up the Port’s Main Channel. Several viewing points along the Main Channel include:

• California Yacht Marina
• California Cafe in Wilmington
• The Battleship IOWA, the Los Angeles Maritime Museum, 600 Sampson Way, San Pedro
• West Harbor (old Port O’ Call Village), 1100 Nagoya Way, San Pedro
• the Cruise Ship Promenade at Harbor Boulevard and Swinford Street in San Pedro
• 22nd Street Landing, 141 W. 22nd Street, San Pedro
• Cabrillo Way Marina, 2293 Miner St., San Pedro
• Cabrillo Marina, 224 Whaler’s Walk, San Pedro

WALKING IN OUR LIGHT, A Community Gratitude Procession takes place Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. 

A community procession, directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera, created to celebrate the light in each person, family, community organization and business that creates a safe and nurturing neighborhood for all to thrive. The procession will begin at the Taxco Theatre, 7242 Owensmouth Avenue at 5:30 p.m.

Community partners include the Office of Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, West Valley Boys and Girls Club, Child Development Institute, Canoga Park Women’s Club, Canoga Park Historical Society, Jubilee Theatre, Canoga Park Youth Arts Center, and Canoga Park High School Dance.

Going on 20 years, McGroarty Arts Center’s holiday festival brings together community artisans, a student art show and sale, kids art-making station and art demos, live entertainment,  a delectable baked goodies sale, and a variety of gourmet chili! Enjoy one of many chili options by purchasing a one-of-a-kind bowl crafted by McGroarty’s staff and students. The 20thAnnual Holiday Festival and Chili Bowl Sale on Saturday, December 7, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 8, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, visit mcgroartyartscenter.org/events.

This event is free and open to the public!

On Saturday, December 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., visit the Sun Valley Youth Arts Center, Stone House for a meet, greet, and smiles with Santa! Then join in on the Holiday Art Workshops! All materials  are provided. Admission is free with an RSVP.  All activities are on a first come, first serve basis, and while supplies last. Activities will be held outdoors.
