The archive is now available to researchers. The archive spans the artist’s career from his student days at Pratt Institute in the 1960s through his more well-known photographs from the 1980s. This project honors the spirit and talent of George Hoshida, an incarcerated artist who documented life with pencil and brushwork in a series of notebooks he kept between 1942 and 1945. Through examples of Hoshida’s artwork and personal correspondence with his family, this site hopes to provide insight into one individual’s incarceration experience.

Khalil Nelson is your host for a guided tour of Bob Baker Marionette (BBMT) Theater on the occasion of the Theater’s 60th Anniversary and as it prepares to preview scenes from its first original production in 40 Years!

Tours include backstage, our fabrication workshop, and music and visual archives! Khalil will share the world of BBMT through the lens of the creation of our new scenes, as part of the current show and in preparation for a full production in 2025, Choo Choo Revue! Don’t miss it!

Refashioning presents two project spaces from transdisciplinary artists and fashion designers: Concept Foreign Garments New York (CFGNY) and Wataru Tominaga. Featuring garments, accessories, and textile works, the exhibition examines the ways in which these two practices—one based in New York, the other in Tokyo—challenge preconceived notions of gender and identity and, in particular, what the artists describe as “vaguely Asian” aesthetics.
