The towering Augmented Reality (AR) figure is a glowing, dynamic body that blurs the boundaries between the digital and physical world. Calling all writers of fiction, screenplays, poetry, etc. Get feedback on your writing in a fun, supportive environment! The Central Library Creative Writing Group meets every other Saturday for fellowship, feedback, and snacks. Meetings start out with a short writing prompt exercise, then writers are invited to share up to five pages of their work for feedback from the group. Whether you are just starting out or well on your way to glory, join us and banish (at least temporarily) those Lonely Writer Blues!

The annual Los Angeles Day of Remembrance commemorates the signing of Executive Order 9066 on February 19, 1942, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Executive Order 9066 authorized the US military to forcibly remove persons of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast and set into motion their incarceration into concentration camps during World War II. During JANM on the Go we are pleased to partner with the Los Angeles DOR Committee for this year’s commemoration at the Los Angeles Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

 

This year’s theme, A Legacy of Courage: Nikkei Women Persevering Through Incarceration and Beyond, celebrates Nikkei women’s stories, their determination to rebuild and thrive after World War II, and their contributions to our community and culture. The program will feature a discussion between multigenerational Nikkei women and commemorate women leaders throughout the history of the Japanese American community.

This exhibition features 15 Inland Empire artists who use the concept of alienness to explore personal and communal identities that defy societal norms.
