Once a month, the Observatory partners with local telescope groups to share their telescopes and knowledge with the public. With dozens of telescopes on the lawn, there is always something to see.

Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural holds its annual Celebrating Words Festival (CWF): Written, Performed, and Sung on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Vaughn G3 Academy!

The festival honors the teaching that our words are medicine found in our stories, creative arts, and cultural offerings.

Celebrate with the community and experience food vendors and and artisan market, live  performances, creative cultural workshops, art and book giveaways, and so much more!

Since 2005, the Celebrating Words Festival has served thousands of low-income, immigrant and working-class families by providing a brave space that encourages imagination and supports intellectual growth and healing, in the vital and unique way that arts and literacy can.

Reseda Rising Art Walk is a free, all-ages community celebration of the arts in Reseda. Join friends and neighbors on Saturday, May 18th from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. for live art, interactive art projects, vendors, live music, food trucks, and more!

Presented by District 3 Councilmember Bob Blumenfield with support from the LA Department of Cultural Affairs, the festival will activate the Great Streets Sherman Way corridor between Etiwanda and Lindley Avenue and aims to use art to re-energize the streets and engage local businesses to strengthen neighborhood pride.

Jump into spring and support local wildlife with this fun, hands-on workshop! Guests will learn how to hydro-dip their own planters with water and aerosol paint. We will then put our planter projects to work by filling them with California Native Plant seeds! California Native Plants are an essential part of local ecosystems and AGCC can’t wait to help you add a little color to your neighborhood.

All materials are provided. We have a water fountian in the classroom. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Pets are not allowed inside our galleries or classrooms.

This exhibition invites a fresh look at the history and vitality of the Sikh culture through paintings, posters, tapestries, and multimedia installations. A hybrid array of material approaches reflects personal and gendered perspectives on the history of the community and its visual expressions.

Creating in Community: Fowler at 60 celebrates the sixtieth anniversary of the Fowler Museum at UCLA. As we look back at the research, exhibitions, and public programs of the past sixty years, we recognize that the most joyful and interesting projects have been those created with others. Through these collaborations fresh ideas bloomed, unforeseen challenges and expectations arose, and new connections were forged. Come revisit these extraordinary projects with us, as we bring this spirit of engagement into the future by working with partners to use our building and collections in ever more experimental ways.

The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery reopens on Saturday, May 18 with COLA 2024, an exhibition of new work by five Los Angeles-based artists, featuring dynamic installations of ceramic, sculpture, photography, video, painting, and drawing. Founded in 1997, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Independent Master Artist Project (COLA IMAP) is an annual grant awarded to a selection of the City’s most exemplary mid-career artists to support the creation of new works. Artists are chosen by a peer review panel that includes curators, cultural workers, and past COLA IMAP grantees. This year’s recipients of the COLA IMAP grants in design and visual arts are Jane Brucker, Mariah Garnett, Janna Ireland, Debra Scacco, and Bari Ziperstein.
