Set in 1960s Dublin, A Man of No Importance tells the story of Alfie Byrne, a bus conductor with a passion for theater. Leading an amateur group, Alfie endeavors to stage Oscar Wilde’s Salome despite societal challenges. This evocative musical explores themes of identity, acceptance, and the transformative power of art. The Last Play by Rickérby Hinds, a meta-theatrical work written by the real Rickérby Hinds, was commissioned by Latino Theater Company and developed in the company’s Circle of Imaginistas playwriting group. An Afro Latino playwright, blocked by the challenge of writing what he believes will be his final play, summons characters from some of his previous plays for inspiration — only to confront chaos, comedy and a deeper understanding of his identity and the true meaning of success. Join the City of West Hollywood and Drag Laureate Pickle in celebrating Harvey Milk Day. We will celebrate the political legacy of Harvey Milk, the first openly LGBTQ person to win political office in California, and hold the 2nd annual José Julio Sarria Drag Pageant. Sarria was the first openly gay man to run for office in the United States in 1961 and helped pave the way for Harvey Milk’s successful run for office. José Julio Sarria was also a well-known drag performer under the name Window Norton, and founded the International Imperial Court System, one of the oldest and largest LGBT organizations in the world.

 Women In Film (WIF) is excited to host FROM IDEA TO SCREEN- EMILY GROOMS, featuring works (episodes, short films, scenes, features) created by the class of the 2024 Fellowships.

A virtual event is schedule for Thursday, May 22, from 6:00 to 7:40 p.m. and in-person event is scheduled Tuesday, June 3, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at WIF Headquarters.

Each screening will include a hands-on review of the script or other artistic process material. Followed by a moderated conversation on process and expertise, and about experiences breaking into the industry.

This is event is free and open to the public.
