The Acadmy Museum presents the Film Series Beware the Elements! Natural Disasters on Film

Following a summer of record-breaking heatwaves, extreme wildfires, historic floods, and a truly unprecedented “hurriquake,” we find the perilous realities of climate change increasingly impacting our daily lives. This screening series considers natural disasters through our planet’s primary elements—earth, wind, water, and fire—and seeks to highlight key moments in the history of the disaster film genre as a source of entertainment and portrayal of science, and as a tool to raise our collective consciousness about science-based solutions to the mounting global climate crisis. Theater under the stars. An entire summer of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, featuring a company of stellar classical actors. Broadway World says, “ISC delivers a rousing good time whenever they strut their stuff.” Pack a picnic, grab your friends and family by the hand, and meet us at the iconic Old Zoo.  

Every year the Autry hosts Sizzling Summer Nights, a series of outdoor performances of top and emerging salsa and Latin fusion music scene. Dance the night away with LA’s best salsa and Latin fusion bands at the Autry’s popular summer series. The outdoor events include free salsa lessons with an instructor, access to the museum galleries, and a separate children’s dance floor.

Fall in love with this summer’s  As You Like It, a screwball romantic comedy with songs inspired by 1930’s crooner, Al Bowlly.

Drawing from the rich tradition of the Yoruba people of West Africa, The Brothers Size is a modern-day fable about two brothers in the Deep South.

Sundays, 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Company is considered one of the first popular concept musicals. Company follows Bobby, who is single and surrounded by married people, on the eve of his 35th birthday. Instead of a linear story, in a series of disparate scenes, Bobby watches the interaction of his married friends and debates whether or not to settle down himself.
