Days of Rage is a web exhibition that enlivens historical activist posters through analysis and storytelling. Grounded in the experiences of activists and graphic designers, the exhibition positions LGBTQ+ graphic design as embodied in community realities and histories, producing subjective reflections on the interdependence of design and activism.  

Taiko is a drumming practice originating from Japan that has become a global phenomenon over the last several decades. World-renowned taiko artist ManMan Mui teaches drumming patterns over 8-week sessions. Lessons include developing rhythm, body awareness, and technique as students make music together as a team. Team Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities, from beginners to seasoned musicians.

The Norton Simon Museum houses a world-renowned collection of South and Southeast Asian art that includes examples of the rich sculptural and painting traditions that developed in this region over more than 2,000 years. Rubén Esparza’s Untitled (flag) series challenges the symbolic meaning of the American flag and questions the sociopolitical history that has made it recognizable globally. A symbol of the American dream for some, and capitalist imperialism for others, the history of the American flag is fraught and complicated.

This will be the first major international tour of pioneering artist Mickalene Thomas’s work. Marking its debut at The Broad with over 80 works from the last 20 years, the exhibition highlights how Thomas has mastered and innovated within several disciplines, from mixed-media painting and collage to installation and photography.

Coming together to partake in a meal is a practice shared by all cultures. Food defines us—we are what we eat. Dining with the Sultan is the first exhibition to present Islamic art in the context of its associated culinary traditions. It will include some 250 works of art related to sourcing, preparing, serving, and consuming food.

Korean Treasures presents 35 artworks recently donated to LACMA by Drs. Chester and Cameron C. Chang (M.D.); The bulk of the Chang family collection has been intact for over a century. This introductory exhibition presents traditional Korean paintings, calligraphic folding screens, mid-20th century oil paintings from both North and South Korea, and ceramics of the Goryeo (918–1392) and Joseon (1392–1897) dynasties.
