The Crazy Superhero Vacation is a production by Ms. Neate’s class at Vena Avenue Elementary. Animation and editing are by Pieter Hardeman of Toy Story Lab. Southland Sings is a creative organization using the arts to unlock creative potential through live opera, musical theatre production, education assemblies, and music composition for all ages.

Explore 30 years of music history, from blues, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll to hip-hop and alternative music, through the lens of photographer Jay Blakesberg. Featuring more than 150 photographs shot on film between 1978 and 2008, Retro Blakesberg captures three decades of pivotal moments in music history. The dynamic exhibit showcases multiple genres and iconic musicians, ranging from Snoop Dogg, B-40, and Bob Dylan to PJ Harvey, Pearl Jam, and the Grateful Dead.

Stream films on Kanopy or Hoopla, both on-demand streaming film services. They both have an extensive library of African American cinema and documentaries that are free with your Los Angeles City or Los Angeles County library card.

The Los Angeles Public Library and the Los Angeles County Library cards give you access to many resources, including two amazing online music collections. Freegal features unlimited songs, and Hoopla lets you check out full albums. Broad Stage presents the mesmerizing combination of Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet and Cuban pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán, who shares a special bond with the quartet as the brother of violinist Ilmar Gavilán. Harlem Quartet has been hailed in the Cincinnati Enquirer for “bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent,” and Aldo López-Gavilán has been praised by The Seattle Times for his “dazzling technique and rhythmic fire.” This collaboration promises a joyously energetic concert that you don’t want to miss.

Two-time Grammy Award-winning soprano Angel Blue is renowned for her captivating voice and performances in iconic operatic roles, including Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, Bess in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and Mimí in Puccini’s
La Bohéme. She debuted as Musetta in LA Opera’s 2007 production of La Bohéme and later performed the same role at Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 2015.

The Ebell of Los Angeles invites Los Angeles families and friends to the world premiere of We Can Do It!, an imaginative and musical celebration of remarkable women who shaped Los Angeles. Two free public performances will be held at the Playa Vista Branch Library, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
